Trial goes on

On the sea.

It`s almost 3 months since the “European

spring” got cancelled and we got self-isolated, pretty immobile and stressed because of various reasons. Some things that happened and some reactions we had were normal, some maybe not. Now that sports will be restarted as long as they are non-contact, I guess that most of us (still) think about what`s next. But how did we get here? Mostly by doing nothing :D. In March there was a general and obvious disappointment but some of us continued to exercise hoping that we`ll get somehow fast back at least to training. It`s June and in fact it wasn`t easy but we managed to move on. This is also our game philosophy: adapt/react to what your adversary is doing. In fact this is what happens in most domains these days. Otherwise you`ll not be successful, nor have longevity. (But first read the adversary.) Another minus point would be that our community somehow stopped functioning . Although we were going to get into “the season” and focus all our energy and desire in it, we could not, besides the minimum physical exercising, redirect all this enthusiasm in some other kind of interaction or other functioning than playing rugby on some pitch. Clubs from West managed to function remotely although their season was over and could take a break. I can`t figure out yet what`s next considering that there were news about reviewing professional rugby and some adaptation of rules because of the virus, that some sports pitches might keep limited access, that summer is coming and our availability might suffer and all this is not yet over. No matter how it gets, a great thing we can do, in our control also, is to keep exercising. The desire to play is great but if you can`t keep running, there is no fun. Otherwise I hope we stay healthy till this is over. I heard a lot of persons nowadays fearing the virus because of their immune system. It seems that most of those who died did not have a desired level of immunity. Then I realized that neither I do have a great immune system and that I lack some physical aspects. I observed this during the rugby preparation. I remember that when I was in peak performance (I would have surpassed it this year) I had the heaviest weight ever. After I got injured I lost 4kg instantly and didn`t get that back till now (another example is my colleague in the below image). Then I remember older times when I exercised less and was quite weak, immobile, I was recovering hard after some efforts (including long nights and alcohol) although I was younger. I got a cold each winter, I had also sinusitis and during some mornings my nose bled. The desire to practice constantly some sport got me a routine of physical exercises, nutrition care and education, daily schedule. There was also a period when I took only cold showers for a year starting with November (I stopped only because the injury recovery required some muscle flexibility which was opposed by the cold water).

The observations of those two periods (before and after the sports commitment) show that in the second part I had better physical definition and managed to keep a healthy weight, that mobility and physical capabilities increased, I felt often full of energy and my nose never bled nor did I catch colds. Adding to this regular blood donation, I observed that many indicators that had a decreasing trend, got great now. And I don`t even take any food supplements or other stuff. This physical effort requires some state of mind but I realize that there`s still work to do as if I would have the same determination in acquiring a new skill, in finishing some project, etc., as then when I push for a better run pace or a repetition more, I would be a better human. It`s a perspective. To be continued.
